Terms for using these repair guides
Faucet Manual publishes general repair information for US household faucets, showers and toilet tanks. You decide whether a repair is right for your home, and you carry it out at your own risk.
General information only
The guides describe common parts and typical procedures. We cannot see your plumbing. Valves differ by model and age, previous repairs may have used non-original parts, and old stop valves and supply lines can fail when they are disturbed. Read the manufacturer's instructions that come with a replacement part and follow them where they differ from ours.
Water damage and scalding
A loose connection can flood a floor, and a shower valve with its limit stop set wrong can deliver water hot enough to burn. Close the fixture stop before you start, check every connection for leaks afterward and again the next day, and check shower outlet temperature with a thermometer after any shower cartridge change. If a page's "stop and call a plumber" list describes your situation, stop.
Out of scope
We do not give instructions for gas appliances, water heaters, valve-body replacement, soldering or other in-wall work, main shutoff work, or pulling a toilet. Nothing on this site should be read as covering those jobs.
Accuracy
We check part numbers and fitment against manufacturer documents and parts retailers, but manufacturers revise parts and we can make mistakes. Confirm a part number with the maker or seller before you buy, especially for a valve more than twenty years old. To the extent the law allows, faucetmanual.com is provided as is, without warranties, and we are not liable for damage, injury or cost arising from use of the information.
Warranties
Many faucet makers offer replacement parts under their own warranty. Contacting the manufacturer before buying a part may save you money; their warranty terms, not ours, decide what they cover.
Trademarks
Brand and product names belong to their owners and are used only to identify compatible parts. Faucet Manual is not affiliated with any manufacturer.
